Alex and Slade work together as a team, somewhat similarly to the team of Don Quixote and Sancho Panzo. Alex and Slade are on a quixotic quest, dreaming an impossible dream, tilting at windmills. Yet this team is extremely talented in pursuit of the futile. If anyone can make the futile fertile, Alex and Slade are it, and can.
The weakness of the one complements the strength of the other. Where the disadvantage of the one’s attributes show, the advantages from the other kick into gear. These synergistic interplays are the bond between them. The bond feels purposeful.
