Slade and Alex loved living in New Orleans, but a time came when they had to leave.
They left voluntarily.
They weren’t running from police, debt collectors, a mob or mafia, angry husbands, or anyone else seeking revenge. They weren’t leaving because of yellow fever or other endemic disease. They weren’t leaving because they couldn’t afford the high prices. They’d lived in luxury most of the time, and continued to have ample funds.
Alex and Slade sought something. They didn’t have a clear idea what that was, or a plan how to find it. Both worried they might not recognize what they were looking for should they stumble into it.
