In some of the large water troughs are goldfish. Huge goldfish. Long ago, Jakob had planted, seeded, or stocked them there.Certainly we can accept, in a conventional manner, goldfish being fine pets for children, boys and girls, or adults, men or women. Plus, goldfish are mystical. We see this primarily through the mediation of oriental brush stroke painting. There is, by the way, one such painting in the Kellström dining room. Jakob obtained it when living in NYC.
The enormous goldfish we find in water troughs, or oriental rock garden pools, are the same species as found in pet shops, bought by pet seekers, and then placed in goldfish bowls. (Is that eponymous?) Those pet goldfish never grow much at all. The goldfish bowl is a confinement, with the physical and spiritual effect of limiting growth, possibility, and potential. Confinement is stunting.
