Do I love Walt Whitman, and if so, why?

“I was down at the docks, the Irish was opening, in, openinginging, in, and as the tides, opening out, freshets o’ Hudson, poor mountaineer, all the fresh water– and free–free fresh water after Atlantic salty Ocean crossing “

Yet maybe these things I mention above, which happened to me, in the way I say, and involve love, love without locks, are out of range in the strange question of why I love, or not, on Walt.

Walt was salt, and salty.

Say you are a cuddly kid, and so far in life, you haven’t had control of the stinky stuff, the dang Italia, whaat I care about is ooo pow wow ya,”

Maybe Walt is pop, if to be popular is to be loved or at least admired, because his words and melodies are profoundly affirmative. He is an American poet, living an American life, thus affirming America– thus a patriotic poet? I can imagine Walt being “selected for popularity” based on being perceived as patriotic. Would I love Walt because he can be perceived as patriotic?
