Walt was asking for something… Who was he asking?
He asks for something for a city. Walt asks on behalf of a city.
The city goes on to be one of the most famous and influential, ever. One of the biggest. What if the city faded away?
“We” wouldn’t care so much for the city or the poem, not that “we” do care now. Not really.
What is requested is to be specific and perfect. Perfect! That’s a tall order.
