I don’t want to be silly about anything. I see being arbitrary as a form of silliness. I know in labor relations, “we” speak of arbitration, and what I know is this is a result of the word smiths, who work for capital, and are always ready and willing to pretend they care about poetry– while gutting world of heart and soul.
Okay, I said “gutting” when I spoke about cutting out, or excising, of the heart. If you are going to gut someone, you excise their stomach. We need another word for excising the heart. Hearting? I can see why we don’t use this participle, because the heart is associated with love.
Interesting.
