Here is the somewhat simple story:
A beautiful young woman, Adair, leaves her loving Nebraska family and community to go to NYC. There, she meets a woman named Ghislaine.
This somewhat simple story is motivated by an underlying theme, or concern.
The concern is what happened at the Mannahattas address of 9 East 71st Street is coextensive with what happened dang near everywhere in the U.S.A. — and globally.
It was normal.
In other words, nothing happened at 9 East 71st Street can be considered abnormal, aberrant, perverse, or criminal. Or kinky, or quirky, or particularly exciting.
Nothing was, as lawyers sometimes say, actionable.
